This is a family favorite recipe. It’s so quick, easy and of course the most important thing - it’s delicious. This dish is basically a cheeseburger meets a sloppy joe and has a delicious baby… well that sounded weird, but you get the idea… I hope.

Sure you can make a regular cheeseburger, heck you should - cheeseburgers are amazing. But sometimes you need something different. This dish has great textural variety and is easy to throw together in one pan. Best of all, it comes together in about 20 minutes.

20 Minute Meal

Can you make dinner in 20 minutes? You bet you can. Are you looking for something that gets dinner on the table in a flash? Throw some frozen fries in the oven, grab a pan and make these sloppy cheeseburgers.

Sloppy Cheeseburgers

Delicious take on a cheeseburger that comes together in 20 minutes flat.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 sweet onion or yellow onion
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3-4 TBL ketchup, to taste
  • 1-2 TBL yellow mustard, to taste
  • 4 dill pickle spears, chopped
  • 1/3 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • dash Worcestershire
  • salt, pepper, oil
  • 4 pita pockets or hamburger buns
  • lettuce and tomato for serving

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium / high heat. Add about a TBL olive oil or avocado oil.
  2. Dice onion to a small dice. Add to hot pan.
  3. While onion starts to cook, small dice your pickles.
  4. As soon as you are done with that, throw your ground beef In with the onions (doesn’t matter if onions aren’t translucent yet).
  5. Break up ground beef, season with salt and pepper. Brown beef. Drain excess fat. (I just shove everything to the side and use tongs and a paper towel to soak up the grease)
  6. Add ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire. Start small, taste, add more as needed and adjust to your preferred taste. If it's feeling bland - add more ketchup and mustard. Don't forget the salt and pepper!
  7. Turn heat to low, add pickles and cheese. Cook until cheese is melted.
  8. Pile on buns and add lettuce and tomatoes. Enjoy!
